Coty Nguyen

Rev. Coty Nguyen serves as pastor of First Church Lamont and Blackwell Methodist Church in north-central Oklahoma. He is passionate about preaching the Word of God, helping people encounter the grace of Jesus Christ, and seeing the local church become a place where people from every walk of life can find a home, grow in holiness, and be sent out to serve their communities.

Coty’s journey into ministry was not necessarily the path he expected. Before entering full-time ministry, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Ethics. After sensing God’s call to preach and serve the Church, he pursued theological education, earning a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry Leadership. He is currently in the final year of his Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Ordained as a Deacon in the Global Methodist Church, Coty’s ministry is deeply rooted in the Wesleyan tradition and centered on the authority of Scripture, the transforming grace of God, and the conviction that the Gospel is still good news for every person. He believes the Church should be a place of both grace and truth... a community where people are welcomed as they are while being invited into the life-changing work of Jesus Christ.

Coty has a particular heart for preaching, discipleship, children and youth, community outreach, and building bridges between the Church and people who may not ordinarily walk through its doors. Whether in the pulpit, around a table, at a community event, or simply sharing life with people, his desire is the same: to point people toward Jesus and remind them that God is still at work.

Coty is married to his wife, Molly, and together they are raising their five children... four boys and one daughter. Outside of ministry and seminary, much of his life is spent with his family, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

At the heart of Coty’s ministry is a simple conviction: the Church belongs to Jesus, the Gospel still changes lives, and the best days of the Church are not behind us. As John Wesley famously said, “Best of all, God is with us.”
